A face-to-face consultation would always be required prior to treatment with Botox. Botox is botulinum toxin A which is a prescription only medication. Before it can be prescribed a consultation would be needed to assess suitability of treatment. This may not be right for the problem/concern you present with or may not be suitable due to medical history.

You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions prior to the treatment. The area to be treated will be cleaned and marked out. The injections will be administered and there may be some small red bumps to the skin which generally subside within 5-20 minutes.

Botox is a relatively comfortable procedure. Very fine needles are used to deliver the treatment which helps to reduce the pain experienced.

Botox gradually takes effect over 7-14 days and generally lasts 12-16 weeks.

The face doesn’t need to be frozen with Botox treatment. Having movement can reduce wrinkles while keeping your face looking natural however some people prefer the face to be ‘frozen’. Your desired outcome and expectations are generally discussed at the consultation and dosage can be adjusted accordingly.

It is a relatively quick and simple treatment and your appointment is usually around 30 minutes.
